The book “Recent Geology of the Himalaya” is intended as a textbook type publication. The Himalaya is the largest field geological laboratory of the world. Many complex problems exist in the Himalaya and during the past fifty years, many research papers have been published on various aspects of the Himalayan Geology. These on a selective basis are discussed in the book. The pioneers of Himalayan Geology explored the Himalaya on foot and/or on horses. However, their Geological Findings are of great significance. Care has been taken to refer and link their findings with the modern contributions, it is hoped that the book would be useful to post-graduate and research students and all the geologists working on the Himalayan Geology. The book is being published under the aegis of the Geoscience Foundation, India.
