The main aim of the author is to provide a text on Forensic Ballistics with extended scientific details as Scientific Examination has become and will keep on being a complex and profoundly specialized field of study. A single investigator can not perform all kinds of work like recognition, examination and interpretation of evidence. A forensic investigation requires a team of specialists from many different scientific fields of study as well as legal and law enforcement specialists. Out of many specialities, Forensic Ballistics is often associated with the investigation of Firearm cases. Firearms and Ammunitions are widely used by Criminals these days and in India more than 90 % cases of firearms are related with the country made firearms. Forensic Ballistics is a technical subject. The non-professionalist like Investigating officers, lawyers, Judges can not utilize its full potentialities. The book is primarily developed to provide a standard text of Forensic Ballistics for different wings of the Criminal Justice System who are involved in the investigations of firearm cases started from the scene of the crime to the conviction of the accused.

It contains an introduction and history of firearms and ammunition, all the three branches of Ballistics (Internal, External and Terminal/Wound Ballistics), description of gunshot residue, crime scene investigation, reconstruction of the crime scene, expert evidence, Arms Act. and some cases related to them are also given for illustrations.

The glossary of terms is provided at the end which will be beneficial for all, making reports, courtroom testimony and for interview purpose for the freshers.

Some questions alngwith their answers are also given in the end which are related to this field and some questions are also given for exercise purpose. Some MCQ are also given at the end.
