Description

The book intends to assist both those who seek information on the literature of their interest and those who are interested in knowing the LIS research trends. The bibliography would help the information seekers to quickly access the literature of their interest whereas the LIS research trends established through analysis and discussion would enable a researcher to identify the areas where future study and research can be undertaken and the distribution pattern of literature may help the media (periodical) planner to improve the quality of the periodical publication on a sustainable basis. The book may prove to be of value to the LIS students, researchers, teachers, LIS media planners, etc.

The text of the book is presented in two parts. Part I consists of the following Chapters 1 to 4. Chapter 1 introduces the information phenomena and goes on to explain the concepts of Bibliography, Bibliographical Control, and Bibliometric and its facets including the recent development such as webometrics and cybernetic study. Chapter 2, provides an overview of the Indian LIS literature along with a historical account of the Annals of Library and Information Studies since its inception in 1954. Chapter 3 presents an analysis of literature reported in the Annals of Library and Information Studies during the period covering 1991-2000.
